Staff Accountant

Basic Position Function/Overview:

Under general supervision, provides support to the accounting department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. Assist the Controller with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of Accounting / Finance.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accounts Payable

• Processes accounts payable / commissions and answers calls from vendors and outside sales relating to accounts payable / commission questions.

• Matches bills to purchase orders and / or enters data.

• Processes employee expense reports by ensuring expense reports are submitted with the appropriate documentation.

• Process expense checks and pays Credit card bills based off of expense report data.

• Selects vendors for weekly payments.

• Processes the annual 1099 process and collecting vendors W-9 forms.

• Accounts Receivable

• Processes invoices, credit memos and debit memos for customers.

• AR collection calls.

• Processes customer payments and / or enters data.

• Files preliminary lien notices with NCS and communicates deadlines with Controller.

• Cost Accounting

• Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories.

• Conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability.

• Other

• Processes monthly PA Sales tax returns.

• Assists with identifying and administering internal controls amongst the organization as well as updating SOP’s throughout the year as needed.

• Assists with external auditor requests.

• Posts Time & Attendance Error Processing transactions.

• Work in special projects as required.

• Regular attendance and the ability to get along in a team environment.

• Follow all safety rules and policies.

• Support company continual improvement initiatives.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 3+ years of related experience.

• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
