Job Description:

Part-time Chaplain

Job Summary:

Provide direct spiritual nurturing and guidance to the Elm Terrace Gardens community and its several constituencies. Position is part time 20 hours weekly.

You will have the opportunity to impact the lives of our dear residents by serving our seniors in our continuing care retirement community. Studying the Word of God, preaching/teaching is an important part of ministering to our residents and helping them grow spiritually. Ministering to our residents in everyday life trials, sickness, grief etc. is rewarding. You can pray and be an encourager in their deepest time of need. Applicant must have completed an accredited seminary program and have at least two years experience, preferably in a health-care facility.

20 hours weekly

Essential Job Functions
1 Conduct the Protestant religious services of the community including Sunday morning worship (this is non-negotiable) and a midweek service which is currently on Thursday nights (night is negotiable), 3 other weekly Bible studies throughout the community.
2 Coordinate Roman Catholic and Hebrew religious services conducted at Elm Terrace Gardens.
3 Supervise any Chaplain Interns when applicable
4 Provide counseling to residents, staff, and other Elm Terrace Gardens constituencies.
5 Visit Elm Terrace Gardens residents in their apartments, Personal Care Suites, and Nursing Facility rooms.
6 Conduct special programs from time to time as determined by Elm Terrace Gardens.
7 Report to the President activity statistics quarterly.
8 Present a warm and friendly image in a courteous and friendly manner at all times.
9 Recommend to the President the equipment and supply needs.
10 Generally try to be helpful to all.
11 Promote the concept of holistic care by enhancing teamwork.
12 Maintain confidentiality of information.
13 Respond to emergency alarms as necessary.
14 Conduct Memorial Services and funerals on request.
15 Presents positive endorsement of Elm Terrace Gardens, its mission, programs, policies, procedures and administration to Elm Terrace Gardens residents, staff, visitors, and other constituencies at all times.
16 Report to work as scheduled.
17 Other duties as assigned.
18 Assist with resident transport to and from activities.

Experience and Skills:

1 Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, completed an accredited seminary program and have at least two years experience, preferably in a health-care facility.

2 Must be sufficiently verbal to communicate effectively with telephone callers, visitors, residents, and other staff members.

3 Must possess knowledge of community resources and needs; ability to handle confidential information; possess judgment capabilities; and conduct tours of the facility.

4 Must have the ability to work well with people including staff, residents, families, and community; communicate the services of the facility to the community: be personable and friendly and work independently.

5 Must possess the ability to speak to and be understood by residents and staff, and demonstrate the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions; and be a good listener.

6 Must possess an agreeable and helpful attitude toward senior adults.

7 Must be ordained and in good standing with his/her faith Community.

8 Must demonstrate inter-denominational flexibility.

9 Must possess experience working with older adults.

Staff Functions
Follows established safety rules and regulations at all times, including fire safety procedures and disaster control; promptly reports accidents, incidents, and unsafe and hazardous equipment or conditions. Knows and complies with basic facility infection control policies and procedures, including blood-borne pathogen standard and infectious waste disposal.

Physical Requirements

Service ability to be mobile (walking, standing, sitting, etc.) Talking and hearing essential to communicate with patients, families, and teammates. Must be able to read and speak English in simple, understandable terms. Must be able to be mobile and free of any physical limitation which would preclude fulfillment of spiritual care duties. Ability to engage in a good working relationship with all departments.

Benefits

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $31.00 - $33.00 per hour

  • Lansdale, PA 19446: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Hospice care: 1 year (Preferred)
