Human Resources Generalist Job Description

Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

Reports to: President

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not supervise other employees

Department: Corporate

Location: King of Prussia

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Type: Full-time Permanent

Job Summary

JBC Associates, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Generalist. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual that enjoys working in a small business environment looking for growth potential. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Human Resources function for the company. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to our employees and the business, and may assist with some administrative, operational, and accounting tasks. The right candidate will be a team player with a positive mindset.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Human Resources Generalist will provide overall Human Resources support for the company. Primary duties include:

  • Process employee status changes including new hire setup, termination processing, title and/or pay rate changes
  • Assist with recruitment including advertising upcoming employment positions, interview and screen potential applicants, and preparing offer letters.
  • Onboard new employees and track training completion
  • Process company’s bi-weekly payroll in Paylocity
  • Manage employee records in various systems and personnel files
  • Maintain compliance with various federal, state, and local regulations concerning all applicable employment laws and complete annual company filings, including but not limited to E-Verify, EEOC, and OSHA.
  • Serve as employee’s first point of contact for HR-related questions and concerns
  • Prepare and distribute company-wide communications
  • Manage company’s COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan, including contact tracing and monitoring government regulations that impact company policies
  • Benefits administration, including coordinating annual insurance renewals, open enrollment, and new hire enrollment and recordkeeping
  • 401k administration, including new hire enrollment and monitoring vendor reports and integration
  • Manage and monitor leaves of absences, FMLA, disability claims, and workers compensation claims
  • Maintain employee handbook, including annual updates
  • Collaborate with management on safety items, HR training, and other initiatives
  • Employee relations responsibilities including planning and organizing company events, distributing employee newsletters, coaching managers, resolving issues with employees, etc.
  • Working in a small business requires this person to be teamwork oriented and must be willing to jump in where needed to help with various administrative, operational, and/or accounting tasks
  • Assist President and Vice President, Accounting Department and Director of Business Development, as needed.

Experience and Skills:

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in a Human Resources department, including payroll, benefits, and compliance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of an organization
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to prioritize various tasks
  • Experience processing payroll using Paylocity is a plus
  • Experience working in architectural/engineering industry a plus.
