Job Description:

Summary Statement:

Working closely with Engineering Manager(s), Design Services Supervisor, Senior Engineers, and/or Purchasing team members the Electrical Design Support Engineer is responsible for executing a variety of different electrical hardware design support activities for the Engineering Group.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

* Act as the primary contact for Purchasing Team regarding component supply issues: researching and identifying potential alternative components (Component Engineering).
* Coordinate between Engineering & Purchasing to plan & execute NPI board assembly builds.
* Assist engineering and manufacturing partners in DFMs associated with NPI board designs.
* Assist Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Engineering in the review/evaluation of manufacturing partners.
o May require travel to Manufacturing Partners
* Apply knowledge of engineering principles to research, evaluate, propose, specify, design, install, operate, and maintain manufacturing test equipment, documentation, and processes ensuring product quality.
o Will require close working relationship with Manufacturing Test Design Engineers
o Will require operation of Manufacturing Test Equipment
o May require travel to Manufacturing Partners
* Participate in manufacturing board failure investigations and manufacturing yield and/or quality issues, determining root cause and probable solutions to remedy identified causes.
o May require travel to Manufacturing Partners
* Generate ECNs & Deviations as assigned by Senior Engineers & Engineering Managers.
* Assist engineering with Review & Approval of documentation generated due to approved ECNs.
* Participate or Lead LEAN Value Engineering projects as assigned.
* Assist in Documentation Control ISO audits and implement audit recommendations.
* Other duties as assigned.

Interpersonal skills: Professional, respectful, helpful, sincere, positive and energetic persona. Listening skills: Ability to hear & meet the needs of Sr. Engineers and Purchasing team members. Problem-solving skills: Advanced problem-solving capability (product & subassembly manufacturing).

Experience and Skills:

 

Minimum Skill Sets and Competencies:

 

* Bachelor’s Degree, BSEE or BSCE. Applicable work experience may be a substitute.
* 5-10 years performing as an Electrical Engineer with an electronic product manufacturer.
* Working Knowledge with Product Structure creation and control via Engineering Change processes.
* Working knowledge of ECAD/MCAD practices, component, board & assembly design package creation.
* Demonstrated Experience working with ERP Systems: SAP experience preferred.
o BOMs; Component Master Data; Revision Control; Purchase Order & Material Inventory views
* Proficient in MS Office

 

Additional Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

* Ability to work effectively independently as well as within small teams.
* Visible advocate for process engineering improvements.
* Strong organizational and personnel interaction skills.
* Strong ability to Multi-Task with demonstrated ability to get things done with an attention to details.
