Pennsylvania Steel, a Veteran owned Steel Service Center now going into its 50th year in business, is looking for responsible Operations Coordinator.

 

 

Position Summary:

 

Pennsylvania Steel Company is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Operations Coordinator to support daily branch operations. This position is primarily desk-based and focuses on allocating orders, coordinating workflow between departments, managing inventory accuracy, and ensuring timely order fulfillment.

 

The ideal candidate is analytical, comfortable working in ERP/software systems, and able to communicate effectively with sales, warehouse, and management teams.

 

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Allocate customer orders to available inventory and production resources
  • Coordinate workflow between sales, warehouse, saw operations, and shipping
  • Manage and monitor inventory levels to ensure accuracy and availability
  • Review open orders daily and prioritize based on ship dates and customer needs
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate order data in company systems
  • Assist with routing and truck scheduling as needed
  • Communicate material shortages, delays, or discrepancies to appropriate teams
  • Generate and review operational reports
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in inventory control and workflow efficiency
  • Maintain organized digital records and documentation
  • Other assignments as directed

 

 

Shift Hours:

4:00 pm - 12:30 am

 

Experience and Skills:

 

Skills Required

  • Proficient in Windows-based software (Microsoft Excel experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Working knowledge of decimals and fractions
  • Ability to read and understand work orders and material specifications
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment
  • Problem-solving mindset with ability to prioritize competing tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in steel service center operations or manufacturing environment
  • Inventory management experience
  • ERP system experience

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with occasional warehouse interaction
  • May require periodic walking through warehouse to verify inventory or coordinate orders
