Position Overview:

The Superintendent is an individual contributor position which works under minimal supervision and is responsible for overseeing projects assigned and supervising staff. This includes supervisory duties as well as hands on execution of various construction tasks to ensure projects are completed to client specifications and project deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

*Lead all field operations for duration of construction project by acting as first point of contact with questions; providing guidance and training as needed; enforcing all safety policies and procedures; informing leadership of any performance or behavioral issues; conducting performance reviews in collaboration with leadership; and providing performance feedback to field staff.

*Be the jobsite contact for the owner, Gorski employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors.

*Enforce and manage the jobsite safety program in support of the Safety Manager. This includes pre-job safety program, first aid kit, accident investigation procedures, all safety equipment and toolbox talks.

*Review project plans and specs prior to the start of field work. Create a list of any information required to build the project, update list, and review new information as needed.

*Work with the Project Manager to prepare the project schedule. Provide updated

progress reports to facilitate schedule updates.

*Review subcontracts, change orders and purchase orders for scope of work

*Establish and maintain jobsite office and temporary facilities, including communications, drinking water, restrooms, power, weather protection and fire prevention.

*Plan manpower requirements, material deliveries, equipment requirements, and subcontractor activities daily.

*Maintain a current set of project plans, specs, and schedule at the jobsite

*Review and comment on all vendor submittals during review period. Maintain approved submittal information at jobsite.

*Inspect all workmanship on the project particularly before any crew leaves the jobsite.

*Conduct pre and post job meetings with subcontractors.

*Maintain a clean jobsite.

*Keep an updated, marked-up set of as-built drawings.

*Schedule and be onsite for all inspections.

*Accompany Project Manager on warranty period. Make warranty inspections; ensure all necessary work is completed. Report any unexpected conditions to the Project Manager.

*Perform various tasks such as but not limited to; Framing, layout, pouring concrete, general carpentry, etc.

*Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Carpenters and contingent staff assigned to project.

Experience and Skills:

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in construction

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to assigned project locations locally and regionally
  • Valid Driver’s License with no major moving violations
  • OSHA 30 certified or ability to become certified within 6 months

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to learn construction software
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Strong familiarity with reading and understanding blueprints
  • Thorough knowledge of construction best practices
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to coach, train and supervise others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Close attention to detail
  • Able to make contributions as an individual and as part of a team
  • Able to form and maintain professional relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and within all levels within the organization

  • Physical Demands: While performing duties of the job, the employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions. The noise, light, sound and temperature levels are typical of an a construction site.
