Inventory Specialist

Montgomeryville, PA

(Temporary Opportunity)

Our client is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist on a 'temporary' basis to cover for a LOA.

This role reports into the Operations Manager.

This is an ON-Site role.

Hours are: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

We ask that you bring your own Safety Boots/Shoes

The ideal candidate is hands-on, computer savvy, experienced with large quantities of component parts and consistent accuracy.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels by tracking stock, processing orders, performing physical counts, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring proper storage and handling of material. Works closely with Purchasing and Manufacturing to replenish and maintain adequate inventory. This role has a focus on optimizing inventory control processes and minimizing discrepancies.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsible for own work and manages inventory in stockroom and warehouses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receiving purchase orders, processing incoming shipments, verifying quantities and condition against delivery receipts, and proper put-away of stock.
  • Kitting component inventory to be staged, accurate, and ready for Production. Identifies material shortages on BOMs and coordinates with Purchasing for replenishment.
  • Processing inventory transactions and maintaining accurate inventory data in the system.
  • Generating shipping documents for all shipments (domestic or international). Making contact, as-needed, to assure successful transfer of goods to consignee.
  • Coordinating with logistics providers, consignee, and customer service to ensure best cost shipment methods are utilized.
  • Managing Production Order processing in the new ERP system.
  • Regularly communicating with Purchasing, Production, and Engineering regarding materials and supplies needed to support operations.
  • Packaging, processing, and shipping for all component orders.
  • Conducting regular cycle counts of stock to reconcile discrepancies between system records and actual inventory levels.
  • Reporting any vendor discrepancies and/or shipping damages (with pictures) to Purchasing.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized warehouse space to facilitate efficient inventory retrieval and storage.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve inventory control processes
  • Updating Inventory work instructions and procedures
  • Participating in annual physical inventory counts and other inventory projects as directed.

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Driving the company-owned truck, as needed. This requires cooperation in completing all necessary paperwork and obtaining a DOT physical.
  • Testing, implementing, and maintaining new ERP system and integrating into current processes.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a high school diploma or GED. Three (3+) plus years inventory experience in a component-based manufacturing facility is preferred.

Working knowledge of company-specific inventory system acquired through on-the-job training. Key characteristics include:

Proficiency with inventory management systems and computer applications

Ability to problem solve and drive issues to resolution

Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry

Strong communication skills, written and oral

Strong organization skills

Ability to lift 75 lbs. and stand for long periods of time

Able to receive forklift training and obtain certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Close to 75% to 100% of the time is spent standing.

In warmer weather there are fans to help move air around, but there is no air conditioning.

Ability to lift 75 lbs. or more is necessary. This is a safety sensitive position due to forklift usage. This position cannot be performed remotely.
